My story

Meet Patches - Paddy to his friends! This sweet 15-pound terrier mix is learning ALL about the good life since coming into rescue. He has a loving and hilarious personality that comes out more every day. While Paddy`s previous home life left him with some boundary issues and an aversion to sharing, he thrives with structure and discipline, and he will follow the rules set by humans who are consistent with them. Having a home with an experienced owner who will set Paddy up for success is essential - and so worth it, as he is a wonderful and loving boy!Patches does great on walks and loves running around the yard after his tennis ball. He also loves tough chew toys (obsessed!), belly rubs, and treats of any kind. For most of the day though, he is happy as a clam just to be curled up under a blanket. He has great house manners and does not get into any mischief. (Your shoes and phone chargers are safe with this one!) He gets along with other dogs at home. Though he can be anxious and barky with new dogs in public, we are working on this behavior so he can better enjoy places like the park. Fortunately Patches charms new human friends with ease.Patches is heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on shots. He is very smart and treat-motivated, and learns routines quickly, which has been a huge benefit to his training. He is house trained and goes to his kennel to sleep quietly every night. He knows `sit` and `stay` and gets to practice these things every day at mealtime, when going outside, and when it`s time to drop his toy. (This treat-loving overachiever has also learned `shake,` `lay down,` and `stand up.`) Patches will continue to thrive in a patient, nurturing, child-free home where his good behavior will be rewarded and reinforced.
