Meet Hexum! A spirited six-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier from Atlanta, GA, whose zest for life is as bold as his stunning brown brindle coat and charming white chest patch. At 74 pounds, Hexum is a bundle of high energy, affection, and quirky personality that’s guaranteed to keep his new family entertained and on their toes! Hexum’s favorite pastimes include dashing around the park, engaging in a game of tug with a sturdy rope, and unwinding with a good bone to chew. He’s also a smart boy with formal obedience training and knows commands like “sit,” “wait,” “leave it,” “night night,” and “go to your house.” Hexum’s lively energy and playful nature make him a joy to engage with, especially for someone ready to embrace his active lifestyle. Hexum is seeking a calm and structured home where he can be the center of attention—no other pets, please—and where children won’t interrupt his routine. He’s currently managing some resource-guarding behaviors, which have resulted in one incident where he nipped during collar handling. This was a learning moment that highlights his need for a confident, experienced caregiver who understands his boundaries and is committed to positive reinforcement training. With consistency, love, and patience, Hexum’s future guardian can help him continue to grow into his best self. While Hexum thrives on human interaction and playful adventures, he’s not a fan of car rides and does experience separation anxiety, which is currently being managed with medication. But don’t let these quirks deter you—Hexum’s heart is as big as his personality! He loves a predictable routine, tucking himself in for bed, and his silly antics will keep you laughing daily.
