My story

Meet APOLLA! Apolla is an adorable, sweetheart! Despite the intense look for the camera, this girl actually has the sweetest face with expressive eyes! She is about 3.5 years old, 55-60 pounds (although she could shed a few pounds), shiny black lab mix. Apolla has very good manners, is low to medium energy, and settles down nicely to hang out with her people. While she does well in new situations, Apolla would prefer a laid-back adult (possibly with teenagers or young adults) home. She does fine with other laid-back dogs; she is a bit too interested in the kitties. She is an easy walk on a leash. If you are looking for a very sweet, happy low-energy dog, Apolla may be the one for you! Apolla did not understand why her people surrendered her to a rural North Carolina shelter because she chased their chickens; these same people had previously surrendered her littermate (Athena) and her daughter (Dory); both of them came to the DC area and found fantastic furever homes. The shelter was overcapacity and urged PetConnect Rescue to pull her because she was so sweet and in danger; we could not leave Apolla behind and our great PetConnect foster community came together to make it happen so Apolla could come to the DC area to find her new home that will adore her furever. Apolla enjoys the creature comforts in her home, understands housetraining, and would be a great companion, especially in a relatively low to medium energy household. She is eager to find her special person to love and curl up with on a warm spring evening! ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ) , spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Apolla is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Robin at kinstondogs@verizon.net **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Apolla, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
