My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet DEXTER! DEXTER was originally rescued and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption before traveling to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine, with other saved dogs. He arrived on January 28th, 2025, and has since settled in well at the rescue. Health & Background &#226&#156&#133 Neutered Rabies and core vaccines up to date Heartworm & tick disease tested – all negative On monthly flea/tick preventatives Microchipped &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weight at arrival: approx. 34 lbs Estimated DOB: September 16, 2022 Cleared by the U.S. Canine Center for Diseases upon entry into the United States DEXTER’s Personality Confident once he feels safe and secure Affectionate and loving — gives great snuggles Friendly and social with other dogs Exposed to cats in Oman (hasn’t been around cats since arriving in the U.S.) Rides well in the car Leash trained and enjoys walks What DEXTER Needs ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 An active and engaging lifestyle to keep him happy and healthy High-quality food, treats, and toys Regular veterinary care and wellness checks A family that understands his international background — new sights, smells, and experiences may take time to adjust to, so patience and compassion are essential DEXTER’s Story In January 2023, DEXTER and his sister were rescued as young pups from a dangerous, high-traffic area near hotel complexes in Oman, where stray dogs are often at risk of being run over or shot. Thankfully, they were taken in by Muscat Dog Adoption Rescue. His sister was adopted, but with no local interest in Oman, DEXTER was selected to travel to Maine to find his forever family. Stray dogs in Oman are affectionately known as “Wadi Dogs” — a unique and elegant mix of breeds such as Saluki, whippet, and other desert-adapted sighthounds. Without rescue, many face heartbreaking fates. Adoption Details Adoption Fee: $300 Location: Sebec, Maine Families must complete and submit an adoption questionnaire Once approved, you’ll be invited to schedule an appointment to meet DEXTER &#226&#143&#177&#239&#184&#143 Applications are typically processed within 24 hours Click here to complete the Adoption Questionnaire Want to See More of DEXTER?
