My story

Taka is a 73-pound gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws! This affectionate boy thrives on companionship and is always happiest when he’s near his favorite people. Whether he’s curled up beside you on the couch, resting his head in your lap, or following you around the house, Taka’s love knows no bounds. He wants nothing more than to be part of a family and shower them with endless snuggles and devotion.Taka has the perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back relaxation. He loves games of tug-of-war, fetch, and romping around in the yard, but when playtime is over, he’s just as content to curl up next to you and enjoy a quiet moment. He’s an excellent walking buddy who enjoys exploring trails and taking in all the scents along the way. Taka is a smart pup who picks up on training quickly. He already knows commands like “sit” and “come.” He is housetrained and crate-trained, and settles well in his space when needed. However, he does have a bit of a mischievous streak—if given the chance, he’ll run off on his own adventure! A securely fenced yard and continued leash training will help him learn his boundaries and keep him safe.He did well around children (aged 3 and 9) in his temporary foster home, and is very affectionate and playful with them, though his size and energy mean he might accidentally knock over smaller kids. In the home while Taka is a loving, friendly companion, he can be a bit wary of unfamiliar people and needs time to warm up.Taka has been living his best life on a few recent Dog’s Day Out adventures, and he’s made it very clear: he’s all about snuggles, tug-of-war, and new experiences! On one special outing, Taka visited a volunteer’s home where he instantly settled in, soaking up all the love. He was described as playful, cuddly, and sweet. He knew his basic commands, adored belly rubs, and couldn’t get enough of his favorite game — tug of war!On another adventure to Middle Branch Park, Taka proved to be quite the explorer. He loved the car ride, happily jumped right in, and spent the day sniffing around and enjoying the breeze. His volunteer described him as a “sweetie pie” who’s curious and full of joy. Though he started off a little strong on the leash, he quickly found his rhythm and became an awesome walking (and jogging!) companion.
