My story

Grace is a sweet dog who will make a good companion. Grace came to us via animal control. She had been left in a box and found in the alley on a hot summer day. Grace was matted, emaciated and in rough shape. When we brought her in from animal control she was unable to walk. As it turned out, her inability to walk was not due to physical impairment but from plain weakness, hunger and condition. She had been nearly starved to death and left to die like trash in the alley, We spent the next couple of months getting her weight stable and body condition back to normal. Because she had been starved she did guard her food. That has disappeared but to be safe we do not want to place her with young children, Grace enjoys other dogs to play with and is fine with cats. Grace loves to be outside in the yard. She thinks she is the protector of her domain and is a bit of a barker when people pass her view at the gate or down the alley. She can be stubborn and not come in when called. She will benefit from dog training. Like all dogs , she will need structure and a patient, loving home. We recommend training for all dogs —not only to give Grace important learning skills, but because you and your dog will create a stronger bond just by going through the training together. Grace is fully vetted. She has been spayed, received age-appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. Subsequent vaccines will be at the expense of her adopter. Her adoption donation is $..600.00. She is on the hunt for her own completely committed family. Little dogs can live to be 20+ years old, so Grace wants to be sure her family is all in for better or for worse! IF INTERESTED IN A PUPPY (UNDER 9 MONTHS): You must have a flexible work schedule or someone home all day. Puppies need to be let out to potty often. They need socialization, bonding, and training (housetraining and behavioral training). If you work long hours, have a busy social schedule, or are not financially secure, then a puppy is not for you. We adopt in the local Chicago metro area. We require home visits. If you would like to apply to be considered as an adoption candidate for Grace, please fill out an application for her adoption on our website at: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org/info/adoption. The first step in the process is to complete an application. We are all volunteers with full-time jobs. We try to get back to all applicants within 72 hours. We are an in home foster group. We are not a brick and mortart. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at: RescueTailsAnimalWelfare@gmail.com. If you aren’t looking to adopt but still would like to help Grace , please consider a donation for her food, housing, and veterinary care. To donate, please visit: https://www.rescuetailsanimalwelfare.org IFrame

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Grace, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
