My story

Up for adoption in Texas, meet Allie! Allie is an exceptionally beautiful, young (just under a year old), 65 lb female yellow Lab. Allie has all the energy, playfulness, and snuggles of a big puppy, with the benefit of a full-grown dog. If you're looking for a new family member who wants to join you for all your adventures, Allie is your girl! The shelter told us she is a purebred Lab, and her former owner, who could no longer keep her, had papers. (That's not important to us. We love great dogs, and we don't care about their DNA.) Allie is sweet, loving, and just wants to be with you all the time. Whether it's snuggling in the bed (she might have the world's silkiest coat, so she's a great snuggler!), working around the house, or keeping you company in the yard, she is definitely your best friend! She loves to play with all of the other dogs in her foster family (three other female dogs ranging in age from 2 to 12) and the human children (12 and 16 years old). Allie loves to go on errands, make new friends, and has a super outgoing personality. However, she still needs a lot of practice harnessing her puppy energy on new adventures. Allie is potty trained and does well in her kennel. Due to her age as an older puppy, Allie is kenneled by her foster family when she can't be supervised. She LOVES chewing on bones, and antlers are her absolute favorite! She gets SUPER excited when you get home, play with her, or it's time to eat. Allie loves to ride in the car, walks very well on a leash (she heels beautifully) when she is not distracted and loves making new friends. She especially loves playing with tennis balls! When Allie has gone to new places, sometimes her excitement causes her to forget all of her leash training and manners. She can be mouthy and jump up on people, but she has gotten much better as she has grown up a bit. We'd recommend a home with no young children and no one who could be easily knocked over. With more positive reinforcement training, we believe she will continue to blossom. Anyone familiar with the Labrador breed knows they can be real bundles of energy and a handful at this age. Allie is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped; all she needs now is a forever family who will be patient, work with her on training, and love her. Apply at www.luckylabrescue.com if you're interested in this beautiful girl.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Allie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
