My story

Meet Venture! This handsome 5-year-old boy weighs in at a solid 55 lbs of love and adventure. Venture is strong on the leash at first, but he settles into a more moderate pace over time. Given his initial strength, we recommend using a harness for more control and comfort. Venture needs a little help getting into the car, but once he’s in, he may pace around a bit in the backseat. However, he quickly settles down and enjoys the ride. Venture is highly motivated by treats and loves to play with toys, making him a great companion for fun and training. He warms up to people quickly, and once he feels comfortable, he leans into you for pets and showers you with sweet kisses. One of Venture's favorite things? Water! He wags his tail the entire time he’s in the bath, clearly enjoying the experience. He seems to enjoy water in general, so a trip to the beach or a splash in the backyard might be just what he’s looking for! If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s ready to settle into a routine and shower you with affection, Venture is the perfect fit! Venture has had great experiences with other dogs. He's playful in a respectful manner, showing play bows and giving space when needed. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
