My story

Copper has landed in the OOTW program after being picked up as a stray in the Roland community. Although attempts were made to find his owners, all efforts failed even though he was microchipped, phone numbers went no where. Copper is a young lemon beagle mix who weighs about 34 pounds. We believe he is around 9 - 12 months. He is what his foster mom considers the perfect size. Copper loves EVERYONE! He is great with children and would make a perfect family pet. He is doggie door trained, house trained, leash trained (although he can pull at times if he's super excited), rides well in the car and sleeps on the foot of the bed in his crate or in his own bed (we change it up so he will settle right in with his new family!) He enjoys time with his people, but is not demanding. He currently lives with 7 other siblings and a nine-year old child and gets along well with everyone. We cannot say enough about this sweetheart of a dog! He's truly perfect except he doesn't really care for a crate, but we are working on getting him trained on that as well. Copper moved into a new foster home very recently and after 24 hours he was completely settled in and right in the swing of things. So we expect him to settle in to his new home very quickly.Copper enjoys chew sticks which we recommend because he could be destructive if he's bored since he is more or less still a puppy. (He has not needed any chew sticks in his foster home because he has plenty of brothers and sisters to keep him occupied but, again, we highly recommend toys for this pup). Copper's perfect home would be one with another youngish dog who is playful, kids, and a fenced yard. He has been fully vetted, is heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting this sweet boy, start with our Adoption Application. The link is just below.
