Midnight Storm ACCT-A-212640 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Midnight Storm must have confirmed placement with an RESCUE PARTNER or FOSTER by Sunday, March 16th at 10 A.M. Should Midnight Storm's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Midnight Storm 1-Year-Old Neutered Male who originally came to ACCT as a stray on 2/4 and was placed in foster care. While in foster, he hid in the ceiling for several days before being coaxed out. He was later adopted but was returned on 3/6 due to concerns about his health. His adopter reported that Midnight Storm “stares at the wall and spills food out of his bowl. He spills kitty litter all over the room but doesn’t use it." Upon return, a medical exam did not confirm the previously reported issues, such as severe weight loss, sunken eyes, or neurological symptoms. However, Midnight Storm was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) and tested FIV-positive. Midnight is missing all incisors and multiple molars/premolars and has mild dehydration. Due to these concerns, Midnight Storm is timestamped and in need of a rescue or foster that can continue providing the care he needs. He is currently receiving treatment for his URI and would benefit from a low-stress environment to recover. Mucopurulent nasal discharge. MMs light pink and moist. No cough elicited on tracheal palpation. No peripheral lymphadenopathy. Dorsal skin scaling, mildly prolonged skin tent. No M/A ausculted, BV sounds bilaterally across chest, femoral pulses S/S, eupneic, upper respiratory congestion. Abdomen palpates softly and without pain, no organomegaly appreciated. Normal gait and posture: full neuro/ortho exam NP. BCS 7/9, normal muscling. Combo test came back FIV (+) and he had a temperature of 103.6°F” On 3/10 staff noted: “(3/9) Volunteer and I visited Midnight Storm during an orientation. We found him resting in his den, tolerant of our company and generally nonreactive/neutral, but seemingly dull and downcast.” On 3/7 during an exam it was noted that Midnight had a history of escape into the ceiling. Hiding in cage. Tried to escape out of the transport box and off table during the exam. Allowed handling without issue but did not enjoy. Bright, alert, responsive, 5% dehydrated. Moderate multifocal tartar, and minimal gingivitis. Periocular hair loss. Ears have quiet canals with moderate amount of debris. Nose has mild congestion. Mildly reduced muscle mass. Full coat with seborrhea and dander, no evidence of ectoparasites, inflammation, or pruritus. Showing signs of Fear/anxiety/stress in shelter. Has an upper respiratory infection, mild to moderate. Mild dehydration - likely due to FAS in shelter and URI On 3/6 During an exam it was noted that Midnight was presented to the back office lethargic/unthrifty. There were slight crusted discharge on both eyes and he had very dirty and waxy ears and waxy scab on the base of right ear. He had slightly pale and tacky gums, missing all incisors and multiple molars/premolars. Coat & Skin - dull fur, lean (lost two pounds in a month). Attitude - Depressed. Midnight presents with possible severe URI. On 3/6 per previous adopter: Midnight has no reaction to strangers, not potty trained, Stares at wall, spills food out of food bowl scatters. Spills kitty litter all over room but doesnt use it. Midnight has a cat cold, sunken eyes, eating less, drinking normally, On 2/5 exam Doctor noted: “Midnight Storm has been observed to have an upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "kitty cold". He will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection.” On 2/4 intake staff noted: “Ears are severely waxy. Mouth/Teeth/Gums -staining, chipped right k9. Coat & Skin - live fleas, dander.
