My foster writes:If you are looking for a cat to protect your home Golden is your cat! He will chase and inspect any moving thing in your home, loves to chase (fake) mice, and is very curious just as any retired deli cat would. Golden loves to have his space and is not much of a cuddler but he will trail around wherever you go just a few inches away. He will let out little mews when he is about to get comfortable somewhere, be it in a sunny spot on the floor/window, or as he's looking for the perfect spot on the couch. He is the perfect cat for an adult home where you may not be home all day, as all you have to do is leave some toys out and he will be comfortable all day until you get back.My other foster writes: Golden will not run and hide, he will follow you around and suggests playing until naptime. He would rather watch his humans than look out the window. He is fun to watch as he sometimes just spontaneously jumps up chasing an imaginary playmate. He's not into cuddling or sitting on your lap but he will sit near you and wait until you are ready to play again. What my friends at ACC say about me:I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.Golden tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.A volunteer writes: I've never been a big fan of change and it seems neither is Golden. He just isn't so sure about Care Center life and I can't say I blame him. Golden used to live in a store where he did important cat work and was always on top of his game. Noted to be friendly with his colleagues, efficient and effective in his tasks, the shelter's been a bit of a let down but shimmery golden skies are just up ahead. Golden has preferred burrowing into his cubby more than the thought of making new friends and neither treats nor pets seem to be changing his mind at the moment. It happens. He has big fluffy cheeks that I just want to snuggle, but sometimes the best thing we can do is to offer our patience and open hearted welcome. Changing jobs and circumstances may make it challenging to show the best part of ourselves, but we've explained to Golden that true friends and forever families will always wait.
