CRUZ*

My story

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Cruz, a shy but incredibly charming pup I met during playgroups. Around other dogs, Cruz truly comes to life—his happy-go-lucky spirit shines through as he runs, plays, and just enjoys being part of the pack. With people, though, he’s a bit more reserved. He gets nervous when it’s time to clip the leash on, flinching and unsure, but it`s clear he just needs a little extra patience and gentle handling. In the yard, Cruz showed little glimpses of curiosity and playfulness toward me. At one point, he surprised me by bouncing up from behind and playfully placing his paws on my back before scampering off like a mischievous little shadow. He seems intrigued by humans, but he’s still learning to trust. A few times while he played with other dogs near me, he came close enough to sniff my hands, and once or twice, I managed to lightly run my hand across his back—small victories that felt like big steps for him.Cruz would thrive in a calm, loving home with confident canine companions to help show him the ropes. He’s already made great strides at the shelter, and with the right environment, he has so much more potential to blossom.Jamie Macias 2040
