Meet Paris not from France. Paris joined the Freedom Squad after being rescued from the Arizona Humane Society. She was brought in as a stray, suffering from a prolapsed rectum and severe diarrhea. After undergoing surgery, she’s been making a fantastic recovery! Now, we are focused on managing her diet to keep her tummy happy. She’s currently on a high-protein hydrolyzed prescription diet and receiving probiotics to help firm up her stool. Potty Training & Daily Life Paris is mostly potty trained and does her best to let her humans know when she needs to go out. The only times she has accidents in her crate is when it’s uncontrollable, but she does her best to communicate! One thing Paris is absolutely obsessed with? Sunbathing! This girl is acting like she is on the beach in the south of France. She is the queen of soaking up the sun, loving her time on her elevated outdoor bed, rolling around and squinting into the sunlight like she’s having a spiritual moment with the universe. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings, but she also makes sure to let them know when something isn’t going her way. Paris is still learning how to play with toys and is working on resource guarding, especially when it comes to food in her crate and possible toys. To ensure her comfort and safety, she eats in her crate like the other foster pups, but if another dog comes near while she’s eating, she lets them know she’s not a fan! Outside of the crate, she does wonderfully and enjoys chasing her foster siblings around, though she sometimes hesitates, trying to figure out her place in the fun. She is unsure when they are playing if it is fighting or playing and leans more towards aggressive behavior. Pack Life & Training Needs Paris is still learning how to navigate pack dynamics, so a slow transition into a home with another dog will be key. The 3-3-3 rule will apply to help her adjust successfully. She’s also working on understanding personal space with both dogs and humans, but she is absolutely soaking up the love! She enjoys cuddles, pets, and quality time on the couch watching Netflix with her people or settling in with the rest of the dogs when it’s time to wind down for the night. She is more dominant, but she is fresh to the rescue so once she starts settling in she will understand what it is like to be with a family that loves her. She will need persistence and guidance to do that. She will do best with a more submissive dog, (one dog family) or as an only dog. Medical Status Paris is medically sound, with no extreme health concerns aside from her ongoing digestive management. Since she recently switched to her new prescription diet, we are still monitoring her response, as food transitions take about 10 days. Getting her diarrhea under control will be the key to her long-term success. Her prolapse has healed and she is doing great, and shows no signs of it reversing. Paris is looking for a loving home that will continue to support her journey! If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this sun-loving, ball-chasing, cuddle-craving girl, apply to adopt Paris at freedomfrenchierescue.org. She is vaccinated, microchipped and spay, her adoption donation fee is $1000.00, located in Mesa, AZ
