My story

Hi! My name is Atreyu, and I am from Arkansas. Atreyu is such a sweetie with the most adorable little underbite. He is crate-trained and potty-trained. He gets along wonderfully with our 3-year-old female (Pittie/Lab mix) dog and despite her being more than twice his size and weight, he loves to roughhouse with her and cuddle with her for naps throughout the day. He's doing great with walking on a leash and learned sit very quickly. He also loves to play with toys and entertains himself very well. Because I work from home during the day, he's only crated at night and when we are not home. He likes to monitor the happenings on the street and when out on walks and does bark at passersby; we are working on this with puzzle toys to distract and practicing the "quiet" command with treats to build his confidence. He is a fantastic cuddler and is extremely lovable. From the Vet: Atreyu was evaluated for some weakness/lameness attributed to luxating patella's on his rear legs, particularly on the left side. He was started on pain medications and good news; he has responded wonderfully to that treatment and the foster is seeing improvements in strength every day. The vet also rechecked him and his knees are much more stable now that he has grown a bit. His future adopters won't need to do anything other than continue to monitor him with annual primary care visits and possibly preventative joint supplements as he ages.
