Notes From Her Foster Home--------Appalachia is a very smart girl. She got her “sit” command so quickly. The fact that she is food motivated definitely helps! We got her a doggy puzzle where you hide treats and she has to move pieces and open doors, and she got that on a second try. She seems to be crate trained, she is perfectly happy to go in her crate and play with toys. She is a very strong chewer, destroyed a nylon bone in just few days and somehow took a top off the Kong toy, so she needs supervision while chewing on toys. Appa had a few accidents on the first day, but she learned super quickly that she needs to go potty outside. In a month, we only had four accidents in total! She’s pretty easy to walk with occasional pulling, my 12-year-old is able to walk her. She sleeps through the night without any issues, and understood from day one that she can’t sleep on the bed with me, though she still tries to jump up - so if you’re looking for a cuddler, she is the one! She had an interaction with a few dogs in the area and had no aggression towards them, she does pull a little hard towards them but just to greet them. Very social with people too, she met some of our family and friends and was so smitten with everyone! Appalachia is an amazing dog. She is a perfect combination of beautiful, intelligent, and playful. I would say, she will thrive in a home with kids older than 12 years old because she can play rough and gets zoomies from excitement. Another thing we noticed is if she gets playful, she gets mouthy. She never bites aggressively but she does grab pretty hard so that’s another reason why I would suggest a family without small children. She should be able to be her playful and rowdy self without accidentally hurting her family members. There is zero food or territory aggression, though.Appa will be an excellent addition to any family and with the right amount of work and training she will thrive in any home. So, if you think Appalachia would be a good head over to submit an application and as always, a meet and greet is required.
