My story

There is an adorable video of me on social media! Click here to experience the cuteness! Meet Sweet Tangerine!Sweet Tangerine is a beautiful, medium-sized mixed breed who came to us as a stray with no known history. Despite a tough start, she's ready to find a patient and loving home where she can learn to trust and thrive. My Ideal HomeI'm looking for a calm and understanding home with experienced adopters who can help me build confidence at my own pace. A quiet environment without young children would be best for me as I get used to my new surroundings.Good with Kids?I need a home without young children. Fast movements and loud noises can make me nervous, so older, respectful kids (13+) may be okay after a careful introduction.Good with Other Dogs?I haven't shown much interest in other dogs here, but I haven't been reactive either. A slow introduction with any potential dog siblings will be important!Leash MannersI'm a gentle walker with mild pulling. I might need a little encouragement at first, but once I trust you, I'll walk by your side.Overall HealthI'm a healthy girl with a beautiful coat and no known medical concerns. I haven't been spayed yet, but I will be before I go home!Behavior DeterminationI'm a Level 3 dog, which means I'll need adopters who understand that I can be fearful and need time to adjust. I respond well to a slow, patient approach and high-value treats (cheese is my favorite!).Other NotesI may need extra time to settle into a new home.I should never be forced into new situations-I do best when I can move at my own pace.Positive reinforcement training will help me gain confidence!Fun FactI was named Sweet Tangerine because, even though I was nervous at first, the staff saw my potential to warm up and shine like a bright, beautiful fruit! 🍊If you have a heart for a dog who needs a little extra love and patience, I could be the one for you! Come meet me and see if we're a perfect match. ❤️A Volunteer Wrote: "Well, the first part of her name couldn't suit her any better," someone remarked as they watched Sweet Tangerine curled up on my lap, trying to sneak in kisses. This dog is absolutely AWESOME! Funny, sweet, immediately relieving herself when she gets outside without ever pulling on a leash, hoping maybe she can play with the dogs in the neighboring pens...you name an attribute when it comes to a dog, and Sweet Tangerine has it. Please come meet her and prepare for endless love! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Apricot Weight: 54.5 Age: 2yrs 2mths 3wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sweet Tangerine, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
