My story

Here is the most spectacular and special doggy. Blue has a real love story. We LOVE him!!! He got his name because of his crystal blue eyes, He is a smooth coat dog with dapple coloring. Blue originated in Tennessee, and came to Chihuahua Rescue in 2020, with a checkered past, and he was heartworm positive. He was one of over 60 dogs and all were unsocialized and abused/neglected. Blue would snarl snap and bite if attempts were made to get in his space. It was literally months before he began to "dog". He socialized with the other dogs quickly, but people, he was not a fan of. Over the years that he has been a part of Chihuahua Rescue, he has become an integrated pet in the home of his foster, and he is less likely to react to humans other than barking, (a lot). Blue enjoys walks outdoors. He wasn't able to be leashed until recently when he spent a couple of months in board and train. He is still not a fan, but you can get a slip lead on him and walk him. It should still be done in a secure area, due to his fear reactivity. Blue takes doggy Prozac, that was started recently, and it has helped him. He has some special toys to help with his behavior, and he does well with them. He is a smart boy, and he is o eager to please. Blue will not accept being petted, and an attempt to do so will cause him stress. He is very treat motivated, and expects treats when he comes in from outdoors. He sometimes marks in the house, but it's usually due to new dogs coming in that again cause him stress. He has challenges, but overall, he's an obedient and friendly dog. He would be a terrific companion on a hobby farm, where he could be contained, and just walk about with his person. Blue likes to chase squirrels and he brings presents, like birds and moles....(yuck). He has the cutest little trot, and he likes his crate, it's his safe space. Blue is receiving Proheart for his heartworm prevention and he is up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Blue weighs about 13# and he's 7 years old. He's been with the rescue for over 4 years.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Blue, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
