My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:I have lived with cats in my previous home.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.Ears is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with many humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people, we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.A volunteer writes: Hook (​221532) and Ears never run out of things to say to each other. With the exception of nap time, which they also do together, these best friends seem to always be in the middle of a conversation. Affectionately following each other around the Free Roaming room, though the other was never very far, Hook and Ears have a genuine curiosity and interest in what the other is doing. They seem to greatly enjoy the company of other cats, possibly because they came from homes with many of them, and settling into Care Center life as singletons was a bit of a challenge for them. Though Hook had been doing his best to go with the flow, sniffing our hands as we held them out for pets and snacking helpfully on the treats we offered, he wasn't really one to be out and about. Ears, on the other hand, had been feeling a bit lost and really needed his buddy. When I see them snuggled up together in a tiny cubby that they repeatedly explain has plenty of room for two, these two peas in a pod are definitely ready to be part of your forever family.
