Meet Mr. Squish!!! When I brought Mr. Squish home, he had spent 3 1/2 weeks at the shelter huddled in his feral box. No one knew if he was feral but he didn’t seem mean. He came to the shelter in a trap and never came out of the feral box to tell someone he was friendly. He came out immediately upon arriving home and wanted pets. It only took another day or two to realize that he is a cuddly teddy bear.Sadly, after about a week, his fur started falling out. He scratched and bit at himself and groomed constantly. He saw the veterinarian and had blood work and they decided he had an allergic reaction to something. So we began treating him for that, and anxiety. At the time, I also had a pair of young bonded brother cats. I tried to get them to live together, but Squish and one of the males clearly didn`t like each other.Once the brothers were returned to the shelter, he stopped the scratching and biting and his fur started growing back. Now he is being fostered with a young female, about 5 months old, and although he was grumpy about it, she persisted. He even kind of likes her now.So because he was fostered, we know that he probably would not do well with another male, but can live with a younger, smaller female. And he is cuddly! This one is going to be hard to give up.
