You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sophie is a friendly, playful girl who loves to be loved. She thrives on playing with her Pyr foster siblings, and has been friendly with neighbor children and visiting adults. She is a confident and happy girl, and her foster mom says that “she is absolutely the sweetest Pyr I have ever met.” Found as a stray, she is quickly learning house manners and has mastered “sit” and is working on “stay” and “down.” She’s mostly housebroken, is crate trained, and walks well on a leash with a gentle leader. Her favorite foods include peanut butter and cheese! She rarely barks and doesn’t drool - she’s a classy lady. Sophie is adorable with her long, soft white fur, and the classic markings of a Pyr. A 4’ foot fenced yard would suit her well. She loves to give hugs and would do best with an active family and another playful dog. - Written by M.M. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. February 20, 2025, 3:41 pm
