My story

Corey is a charming "tuxedo" cat whose tux jauntily seems just a little askew at the white edges, perhaps reflecting a misalignment from this kitten's energy. This four month old male has a white nose above an intriguingly incomplete white moustache, accompanied by alternating white and black toes on his right forepaw, contrasting with his white socks, along with the traditional tuxedo markings. Corey's "origin story" has both drama and a bit of humor. A Forsyth County firefighter named Corey appeared at FurKids, in full gear, with a box containing an injured kitten -- and piece of sausage. The sausage was easy to explain "it was the only thing we had at the station we thought a kitten might eat". Where Corey (how could we name him anything else?) was found, was not easily explained. Corey, the firefighter, had retrieved our Corey from ten feet down a storm drain near a local school. Fortunately, the students had heard tiny young Corey, less than six weeks old at the time. Corey's injuries included a seriously broken right hind paw and a broken hip. It was unclear if Corey would be able to retain the hind paw (he did). Undaunted, Corey adapted to the injuries and was a delightful, if energetic, lap cat while his mobility was limited. Corey's recovery required two surgeries and limited activity for a time. His energy and enthusiasm shows the hind paw is fully recovered and he is eager to move on. His broken hip healed successfully but narrowed his pelvis, putting him at risk of intestinal blockages. Corey should be given stool softeners and his litter box observed to avoid this risk. Corey is running and jumping with little evidence of the injuries. He has been sharing a foster home with six other cats, each of whom has instructed Corey in different aspects of feline conduct. Corey is ready for a forever home.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Corey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
