My story

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW. IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. If you still have questions after, we are happy to respond through email. It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life. CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ and her siblings (SERGEANT DANIEL "HONDO" HARRELSON, OFFICER JIM STREET, OFFICER DOMINIQUE LUCA and OFFICER CHRIS ALONSO) were found in a lady's back yard in San Jacinto, California. We were working on helping her fix all the ferals and keeping the kittens to socialize them. She ended up catching these guys and we brough them to the rescue. We named them all after the show S.W.A.T Now she's ready for her new home! Meet CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ, a delightful tortoiseshell cat from San Jacinto, California, whose personality is as multifaceted as her beautiful coat. With her playful, curious, and sassy nature, CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ is always ready to bring a little extra charm to your life—when she feels like it, of course. Though she’s a bit shy at first, once CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ gets comfortable, you’ll see her sweet side shine. She has a gentle demeanor, though she's also known for her independent streak. CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ is happiest when she can observe her surroundings quietly from a cozy perch, giving the occasional meow when she’s in the mood for treats or wet food. Her inquisitive eyes are always watching—whether you're making dinner or simply scrolling through your phone. When it comes to playtime, CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ is a fun-loving gal! She adores chasing laser pointers and pouncing on wand toys, especially when she can do so with her fellow feline friends. She's not exactly the social butterfly of the cat world, but she's a big fan of lounging close to her cat buddies for an afternoon nap, nestled up next to them as they sleep the day away. She’s more of a self-sufficient player, though, and enjoys her own time exploring or pouncing on imaginary prey. As much as she loves attention, CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ isn’t fond of being picked up, preferring to keep her feet (or paws) firmly planted on the ground. She might not be the best fit for a household with young kids who want to cuddle her, but she’s absolutely ideal for a calm and observant environment with a fellow cat or two. CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ needs a loving family who understands her laid-back, quirky ways and who can give her the space and respect she needs while still offering her plenty of opportunities to play and be her sweet, silly self. Could you be the one to give her the home she’s been waiting for? CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ is DOMESTIC SHORT HAIR / TORTISHELL MIX. She is about 1 year 5 months old and is good with cats. She has never been around young children and seems non-reactive to dogs. CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ is currently at a foster home in Temecula, California. ADOPTION PROCESS: 1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com/adopt 2. Fill Out Online Form 3. Submit Online Application 4. Someone Will Call / Text to Do Phone Interview 5. Will be notified of Approved Application 6. Home Visit (WILL BE SCHEDULED) 7. Official Meet and Greet with Kitty 8. Sign Adoption Contract 9. Pay Adoption Fee (VENMO - ZELLE - PAYPAL or CASH) 10. Take the Kitty Home ********* MAY CONSIDER OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS NEAR CALIFORNIA, BUT BE AWARE THAT WE WILL NOT SHIP. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO PICK UP********* FEBUARY 2025: VOLUNTEERS are the only ones allowed to let you meet the kitty. Not PETSMART employees. Volunteers are usually at PetSmart between 9 am to 1 pm for cleaning. The cats currently at PETSMART you are allowed to go visit. A good time to come visit is between 5 pm - 8 pm (Monday thru Saturday) and Sunday 4 pm - 7 pm. The VOLUNTEERS are only there in the evening for 3 hours so please call the PetSmart location, email us or visit the cattery for VISITING HOURS. Most days are different 3 hour shifts. It's based on volunteer availability and store hours. Store hours change with holidays. ******************* If you call the PETSMART location, please ask them to physically check the cattery door for the current week's VISITING HOURS. ****************** The kitties at a foster/rescue homes, we will accommodate as much as possible. But steps 1-6 of the ADOPTION PROCESS need to be done before we do OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS. It is easier to do the meet and greets at the locations listed below. PETSMART in Murrieta, California off Madison Avenue in Hemet, California off Florida Avenue in Palm Desert, California off Monterey Avenue The crazy rescue mama will drive kitties to their new home, meet & greets, etc...once the phone interview and home check have been done.. Gas donations always appreciated! ************* Please no calls to the rescue. No one available to take calls. ************* If the CAT/KITTEN is still listed (meaning here or other websites) they are still available. It does not mean they don't have other pending applications or meet and greets. Please note: Just because you fill out an application and are approved does not obligate you to adopt the cat/kitten. If he or she is not a fit...we have plenty of other cats / kittens available for adoption. We are a SMALL rescue based out of Hemet, California. We are all volunteers that run the rescue. If we haven't reached out....be patient. CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ is ALREADY fully vetted. The adoption fee of $200 covers: Spay FVRCP shots RABIES shot FELV/FIV test (Negative/Negative) Drontal Dewormer Stronghold Flea Control Microchip We are NOT a government FUNDED shelter and all our donations and adoption fees are for our rescued cats/kittens. So, we do not do DISCOUNTS. If for some unfortunate reason you missed out on the kitten/cat you emailed about...I'm sure that we could help you with another rescue baby! Just ask! If you have any questions not covered here, please feel free to email us: Workinwhiskers2020@hotmail.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt CAPTAIN JESSICA CORTEZ, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
