My story

Rex is a 7-month-old Border Collie/Terrier mix with soulful eyes and a heart full of love. While his siblings have all gone home, Rex remains the last of the litter—waiting patiently for someone to choose him too. This sweet boy came to us in February at 3-months-old and over the past three months he has watched his brothers and sister leave for their forever families. Now, he’s left wondering when it will be his turn. Once outgoing and playful with his littermates, Rex has started to shut down in the kennel without them. He’s a bit shy at first, but once he feels safe, he’s incredibly affectionate and loyal. Rex would thrive in a calm home or quiet neighborhood, or even on a farm, with someone who can give him the patience and confidence-building he deserves. He’d love a fenced-in backyard or daily walks where he can explore at his own pace. Due to his sensitivity to loud noises and high activity, a home without small children would be best. He’s neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention—ready to go when the right person comes along. Rex may need a little extra time to open up, but once he does, you’ll see just how special he is. He’s not just a dog waiting for a home—he’s a dog waiting for you. 🐾 Ready to Adopt? Here's How! The first step in our adoption process is submitting an application through our website. Simply visit: https://www.hoovesandpaws.org/shelterluv.html, click on the pet’s photo to view their full bio, then click “Apply for Adoption” to get started. Please give us a few days to review your application. If approved, you’ll receive an email from adoptions@hoovesandpaws.org to schedule a meet and greet (including any necessary dog-to-dog introductions). If the meet and greet goes well and you’d like to move forward, we’ll schedule a home check—this means we’ll bring your new furry friend to your home ourselves. This helps ensure a smooth transition and gives your new pup a familiar face upon arrival. We’ll finalize the adoption at that time! Questions, comments, or concerns?
