Meet Franny – Your Fierce, Loyal, Ride-or-Die Companion Looking for a dog who’ll stick by your side through thick and thin, keep you laughing, and always be thrilled to see you? Meet Franny, a five-year-old mixed breed with the perfect balance of chill-at-home companion and eager walking buddy. Franny is housetrained, knows her basic commands (though she might pretend not to if she’s not in the mood—she’s got some sass!), and recently finished her first round of obedience classes. While she didn’t technically graduate (she knows what to do—she’s just got a stubborn streak), her instructor sees potential, and she’s enrolled to retake the class for free this August. She spent a weekend with the trainer while her foster was out of town, and it confirmed something we’d suspected: Franny really wants to be the only dog in the home. She isn’t looking to play second banana—she wants to be someone’s one and only. That said, in the right home, it’s possible a younger, submissive dog could be introduced down the line, but her current preference is clear. She’s medium-energy and perfectly content to snooze nearby while you work from home, but when it’s time to go? She’s all in—especially if it involves a walk or a ride in the car. Her leash manners are still a work in progress, but she enjoys making her rounds and “patrolling” the neighborhood. Loud noises, especially trucks and thunder, can trigger barking, but she’s working on building confidence in new environments. Franny loves women and has made a few male friends too, though she can be a bit particular about who earns her trust. She’s attended playgroups and done well—friendly, social, and playful—but did show a tendency to be conflict-driven when a small altercation broke out. She’s not looking to stir the pot, but she doesn’t shy away from standing her ground, either. She would do best in a home without young children or elderly folks, simply because she’s a strong girl who doesn’t always realize how big she is when she gets excited. Franny had separation anxiety early on but has come a long way—though she’d still much rather come along for the ride if you're heading out! This girl is protective in all the right ways and will absolutely make you feel safe, seen, and loved. She may not be a puppy, but she’s a total heart dog in the making—quirky, devoted, and ready to be someone’s very best friend. Could that someone be you?
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Franny, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
