My story

Meet Cheddar! This big ol' retired Tom Cat is the sweetest and squishiest cat in the world! He was not meant to live the outdoor life when he found his way to Chain of Hope with a head wound and quite beat up. They healed him back to health and he came to us to enjoy our cat room and find his forever home! Cheddar loves getting his big cheeks rubbed on and his favorite past time is making muffins. He will have a full blown conversation with you about how much he is enjoying the indoor life! Contrary to past beliefs, FIV is Not spread through "casual" contact with another cat. This includes eating/drinking, litter box, mutual grooming and/or playing. The virus is spread though a deep that penetrates the skin. If your resident cat is already altered and there is no history of aggression towards other cats, a FIV+ can live harmoniously with a non-infected cat. FIV+ cats live long happy lives just as any non-infected cat. FIV+ cats must be strictly indoor cats. Because FIV+ is an immunocompromised virus it is important to understand that if your cat becomes ill your vet will most likely want to treat your cat with a more aggressive antibiotic for a longer period of time than a non-infected cat. Do not be alarmed by this this; in fact, this method is recommended to help your cat heal faster FIV+ cats are just as loving and compassionate as any other cat and they deserve the same chance to find a loving home as the rest of the cats we have available for adoption! Midwest Animal ResQ offers a 30-day adjustment period within which you can evaluate the pet's progress and your adoption decision. If, within those 30 days, you determine your recently adopted pet isn't a good fit, you may return the animal and receive a MARQ credit that can be used toward the adoption of another animal. Our biggest priority is finding the very best match for you, and Completing Families one Tail at a Time! Adoption fees on our adult cats is $50, and for kittens the fee is $100. All cats must leave in a secure carrier. If you don't have one, we have cardboard carriers for sale for $10. All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cheddar, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
