We are so glad you are here wanting to meet Stella! This girl is a rescue favorite and we are going to show you the many ways that Stella will change and brighten your life. This girl is perfection; she’s a soft, she’s gentle and she has an innocent presence that will keep your home feeling warm and bright every day. Stella adores kids of all ages, dogs of all temperaments, sizes and, and is also cat friendly! Unique in beauty, we believe that Stella Sugar is a Lab and Husky mix. She does not have the signature vocal, curious, and playfulness of a Husky, but she does have that classic Husky connection with her humans. Stella will look you right in the eye, and you can tell that she’s observing you, learning about you, and loving you already. She currently weighs in at 48 pounds, and we estimate her age to be around 2 years old. She is a rescue, so her exact age and breed are a mystery to us, and these are simply our best guesses. Meet Stella here: https://youtu.be/ZNpzzG0pxNA?si=Yn26v8O0ozH-OOdu Stella is such a rescue favorite that she is currently being fostered by one of our on-site trainers. Yep, Stella is so well behaved that a professional dog trainer actually said “yes” to taking her home! Stella is thriving with our trainer, her husband, and their personal dogs. A 3 year old female 19-pound Schnauzer, a 9 pound male chi mix, and a 40 pound male shelter mutt enjoy Stella’s company every day. Stella is enjoying the good life with plenty of treats, couch snuggles, squeaky toys and car rides. She’s amazing in the car and settles in the backseat, sitting up and looking out the window. Every day, when our trainer comes home from the rescue, Stella is excited to see her and greets her with adorable little kisses. Precious and perfect, Stella Sugar loves spending time with dogs. She has yet to meet a dog that does not love her or trust her! Because she is such a peacemaker and calm natured we are able to use her to be with dogs who need the company of another dog to open up to people, or for dogs who have never been around dogs before. They find so much comfort in her. You see these dogs immediately relax and often sit as close to her as possible and take naps! Stella always lovingly welcomes them. She is so good at sharing toys, treats, bed, and does great tandem walking with dogs. There is just so much to love about her. As repetitive as all this will continue to sound, what makes it all special is the way that Stella shows wisdom and a reassurance that everyone is safe and well. It is something quite hard to explain. Stella spends time with the house cat every single day off leash, unsupervised, sleeping together or doing whatever their hearts desire. The cat, Biggie, loves her because she doesn’t bother him. They just coexist and they do a great job too! Stella opened up the fastest when we introduced her to the first child at the rescue. Her curiosity peaked (she’s good at hiding it!) and she immediately went to say hello. She met our Director’s 11 year old son Elijah and suddenly the girl that has been taking her time to open up with all of the team, was in love and an open book! The treats that she would only take from us when we were not looking, she lovingly and gently took straight from him. The physical touch that she was accepting from us (more like tolerating lol) had now a whole new meaning. It gave solace and she napped. She fell asleep on his lap and just took a deep nap! Tears were shed because we saw Stella find her favorite people. Children! The most innocent and trusting beings on earth. Of course now it makes sense because Stella is the same way. It is natural they paired so well together. Stella has met several other children and gets excited to hang out with them at work! The spunky four year old is her favorite. She first met him in a yard during a small playgroup and she began to jump and have zoomies! She literally could not contain her excitement. They like to lay and watch YouTube. She also makes a great listener because he plays his animal toys with her, tell her animal stories, she watches without flinching and lets him know “It’s okay, I’m here. You play however you want” As calm and as even natured as she is in a home with dogs and kids, Stella’s playful side comes out in the yard! She absolutely loves playgroups. She will run alongside all of the dogs. She is not a rough player or one that has a lot of physical contact play, but she just loves trotting alongside all the dogs. With a dog she has made a special friend with she will give some mouth kisses and will bump bodies while running. If she is in the yard alone, you will find Stella on a sunny spot, rolling on her back! If your home is your sanctuary, Stella Sugar will fit right in. Stella is still learning about all of the luxuries of life with loving humans, and she’s loving it all so far. Stella is eager to please and walks well on leash, she even climbs agility obstacles when we ask her. She is crate and house trained. She walks easily in her crate and settles easily for a nap. Stella will need a home with lots of patience and love to offer her while she settles and acclimates to your home. She can handle the hustle and bustle of a household after getting to know everyone. She never adds to that fun energy though, she is our Switzerland! She just watches. If you like people watching, so does Stella. Haha, that is the best way to describe how she acts when she goes to a new environment. She will lay and watch as things around her happen, observing and soaking everything in. You may think not a lot is happening but by day three, she is sitting and observing and soaking it all in! Then she moves to standing and baby steps! Then she moves to walking, roaming, and exploring. Before you know it, she has her favorite spots, knows her routine, her favorite dog and/or human. She would love a big backyard to sniff and explore in. We believe she would be happier in the suburbs or countryside, as opposed to the hustle and bustle of the city. As we close this bio, we hope that you are officially head over heels, smitten with Stella as we are! Sweet Stella Sugar is such a gentle and peaceful presence, she’ll feel like a perfectly fit piece of your little slice of heaven. We are willing to test Stella with anything you need us to in order to ensure she is the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
