Abel

My story

Abel is a four-year-old, 55-pound lab mix that was hit by a car and picked up by a shelter the night before Christmas Eve. The shelter took him to the emergency room, but the injuries were too extensive for the shelter’s budget, so they came back to get him to take him back to euthanize him. They called us to see if we could help in a last-ditch effort. It was two days before Christmas and everyone was tucked in for the holidays, but we had to help. We told them that if the ER could take him and the shelter could get him back there, we would take him. When we called the ER to set it up, they were so excited that he was coming back and would get a chance to live. After a couple of weeks and two surgeries, we found a foster for him and he has recuperated, healed and is ready to find a forever home. The fosters have other dogs and a young child, and he has been wonderful with both, plus he is great in the house and loves to chase the ball. Abel is ready for anything and will fit in anywhere.
