Lump

My story

Lump is a black and tan smooth haired dachshund mix puppy. He and his mother were rescued from the Houston streets after being abandoned when he was just two months old. We know that must have been a scary time for him because he still is tentative with strangers, both dogs and humans. Learning to trust will be an ongoing process for him. In contrast to how shy he is with strangers, he adores us and our older dogs and tries to get them to play. If that doesn't work, he zooms around the house or outside where he has a little route he created. One of his favorite pastimes is chasing squirrels, lizards and birds in our backyard. For this reason, we would like to see this athletic pup in an active household ideally with a yard and playful companion. Another favorite activity of Lump's is playing with squeaky toys and chewing on his long-lasting collagen sticks, frozen bone marrow, or peanut butter-filled KONG. Plans recently fell through on his adoption. This breaks our heart because the additional time with our family has caused us all to bond even more. He sleeps in the bed with us, snuggles on the sofa, and takes long walks in the neighborhood. Lump is housetrained. We do not crate our dogs, but have crated Lump when we leave the house mainly to keep him from getting into "puppy trouble." Someone is pretty much always home so crating Lump is rare and we never leave him in the crate more than a couple hours. Lump is such a great puppy and is looking for a home that will make him feel safe and loved. Lump is a male Dachshund Mix with an estimated date of birth of 11/1/2024. As of 5/14, he weighs 25 lbs.
