My story

**Meet Artemus!** Artemus is a 2-year-old, 70-pound bundle of joy who is ready to find his forever home! This playful and strong boy has a personality that shines once he settles in. Although he starts off with some nervous energy, especially when he’s first out of his kennel or in the car, he quickly becomes a laid-back companion once he’s comfortable. Artemus is strong on the leash initially but settles down to a moderate pace, making walks with him quite pleasant once he’s had a chance to burn off some of that excitement. Artemus seems to be housetrained, as he immediately goes potty once he gets outside. He’s also very toy-driven—his favorite is his stuffed lambie, although he does love to tear up his toys too, so keep that in mind if you have precious squeakers lying around! Artemus is treat-motivated, knows "sit," and can even catch treats in mid-air! He's also a big fan of chompy treats like bully sticks and will happily entertain himself with them for hours. When it comes to affection, Artemus is a loving boy who bonds closely with his person. He’s a bit shy around strangers, especially if they get too close or too many at once, so he may not be the best match for a home with small children. However, with his people, he’s an affectionate companion who loves spending quality time. Artemus does great during a bath, and he’s certainly a champ when it comes to grooming! Artemus is a good boy in the car, too—he’ll jump in without help but may try to take the wheel if he’s not restrained. A seat belt or crate will keep him safe and prevent any driving mishaps! He's also good about sitting for treats, though he may try to jump up—just a little reminder to redirect him back to his “sit,” and he’ll be just fine. If you’re looking for a playful, loving, and strong companion who is ready to settle down into a comfortable routine, Artemus might just be the perfect match for you. He’ll need a bit of guidance, but with some patience and love, Artemus is sure to become a cherished member of your family. If you think Artemus could be the one for you, come meet him today! As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Artemus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
