My story

Chili is a small scruffy terrier mix who was being surrendered with his two siblings (Paprika and Curry) at the San Bernadino shelter in January 2025 where we were able to offer a helping hand and take them in ourselves. Their owners said that they were sweet pups that they just couldn't take care of anymore. Chili and his siblings are lovingly named the "spicy pups" as they were scared and afraid in their transition of being surrendered by their owners. They have been working with our Behavioral Team to help them be more comfortable and have come a long way, where they will continue to get better and better as the days go on. Chili would do best in a quiet home with someone who has experience with rescues who are scared and who can offer patience. They would likely do best in a home with no kids and either as the only dog, or with a dog whose calm and mellow. Chili seems to prefer women, and thinks that men are more scary. If you're interested in meeting Chili, please submit a foster or adoption application for him and our team will be in touch for next steps if it seems like you would be a good fit.
