Tater (Tot)

My story

Tater is a 3 year old male Mini Goldendoodle (about 40ish lbs) looking for a home where he can get lots of exercise and attention. He is a very active dog who will need a family who can help release his energy daily. He will need a home with a fenced in yard and no kids under the age of 5 as when he gets excited, he does not know his own strength and will knock littles down. His owners say: "Tater does sometimes steal and chew up small objects, and he seems to do it more often if he has been a little pent-up, so we believe if he received the attention and exercise he needs on a daily basis, that would help with this issue." We are also told by his owners: "Tater loves all people and animals and is very friendly, although he does get extremely excited/worked up when someone enters our home, but he calms after a bit. He has never shown any aggression towards anyone but due to the nature of the excited state he gets to sometimes, and a lack of understanding how to be gentle, we are concerned he could injure our infant son and therefore also recommend he go to a home without any small children as he does not have experience with them. He loves to play and is VERY food motivated (although not food aggressive and can be touched while eating) and is therefore very trainable. He has always lived with a fenced in back yard has not been trained to stay on our property so he would need to be contained with a fence. He is crate trained although we recently stopped using the crate and started just containing him to one room at night." Tater will benefit from obedience training so his new family will need to be committed to being patient with him, and giving him lots of time to play and run.
