My story

**Adoption visits are by appointment only** If you see an animal you`re interested in, fill out an adoption questionnaire on our website https://everettwa.gov/161/Adopt-a-PetDixie is tender hearted young dog looking to start her new life. She can be shy at first but warms up quickly and is full of love and affection. Dixie has spent some time in a foster home see notes below**FOSTER NOTES** Dixie is a sweet and calm dog. She is almost fully potty trained. If I let her out after a nap or playtime, she does well. However, if I don’t notice her at the door or she’s left unsupervised, she might have an accident. She walks well on a leash, though she pulls a little. If you change direction, she quickly catches on. She doesn’t dart out the door, nor does she guard her food or toys. She enjoys playing with her toys, especially when you join in. She’s tough on them, pulling out stuffing and chewing on hard toys for hours. She also loves it when a toy is thrown for her to fetch.Dixie is cooperative during grooming. She sits nearby while her face is washed and her hair is brushed. If her paws need wiping after coming inside, she stands patiently by the door.At night, she sleeps in a kennel—just toss in a few treats, and she’s good to go. She enjoys curling up next to you while you work on the computer or watching TV at night to unwind. She is an excellent car rider, sitting politely in the front seat without jumping around or interfering with the driver. She also loves visiting coffee stands, charming her way into a treat whenever possible.Dixie has good manners—she knows how to sit, high-five, shake, stay, and come when you clap. We’re still working on stopping her from jumping up when greeting people. Her routine is relatively consistent: She goes to bed around 8 p.m. and wakes up around 7:30 a.m. Like many dogs, she has a few mischievous habits—she’s a counter surfer, so keeping counters clear is essential. She’ll also chew on shoes, so it`s best to store them in a closet. When traveling in the car, she doesn’t react to other dogs. On walks, she seems interested and friendly toward them. She’s always happy to meet new people.Dixie went out on a wondering rover and they said, `Dixie had a great time walking around Boxcar park, meeting new friends and rolling around in the grass. She was very good on the leash, and we worked on some commands like `settle` and `walk on`. Very polite, good behavior when she saw other d
