My story

Garek (ACCT-A-215139) is a one-year-old snugglebug with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. This beige cutie was originally found as a stray in mid-March and quickly melted hearts with his cuddly, affectionate nature. At just a year old, Garek is still very much a puppy—with playful energy, a love for toys, and a deep appreciation for belly rubs. Described by volunteers as a “total sweetheart” and “gentle lovebug,” Garek shines when he’s with people. He walks beautifully on leash, is eager to explore the world, and loves to curl up close for cuddles. He especially enjoys car rides, trail walks, and playtime with toys—tennis balls are a favorite! Garek has been playful and soft in dog meets, even if a bit visually limited due to congenital microphthalmia in one eye. He’s a sensitive soul who thrives on human connection. Garek has shown signs of separation anxiety when left alone, so he would do best in a home with a consistent routine and someone who is home often or can help him build confidence being alone. He’s mostly house-trained and knows basic commands like “sit” and “paw.” This loving boy will benefit from continued positive training, especially to help with his puppy-style jumping when excited. Garek is looking for a home that will match his tender heart and provide the stability he needs to keep growing into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Playful pup. Jumps in a playful way. 03/25/2025 I have no idea how this sweet boy hasn’t been adopted yet! He greeted me very politely in his crate and allowed me to leash him with ease. He is a total love bug and super playful. I was almost tempted to bring him home myself, that’s how much he melted my heart. I adore him. 03/20/2025 Garek is the sweetest pup! He was very well behaved on our day trip to the Schuylkill River Trail. He didn’t bark or pull on the leash at all, he didn’t react to other dogs on the trail, and he even fell asleep on the car ride back! Garek is very snuggly, he always wanted to sit close to us (and even sit on my lap!). Because he’s only one year old, Garek can get a little jumpy when he gets excited, but never was aggressive or tried to bite. He loved to chew on sticks as he is still growing his teeth! 03/19/2025 Garek was quiet in his kennel with loose, wiggly body language. Easy to leash, got the zoomies in the yard, met another dog with playful body language, allowed full handling and solicited affection. Played with toys and used a snuffle mat with no guarding. 03/16/2025 Garek has some trouble seeing but was a perfect boy in playgroup. He is soft, gentle/dainty, and very sensitive. He did his best to engage in light play. Medical Notes 03/17/2025 Medical Waiver: Garek has congenital microphthalmia +/- cataract in one eye. A vet consultation is recommended for long-term care guidance. This animal is currently located at Doggie Style Pets.
