My story

Francis is a 4-and-a-half-year-old French Bulldog who is looking for his third and final home. Francis is well trained and well behaved. He knows many tricks; sit, he both paws, lie down, stay and drop it. He is a super sweet and loving dog and loves to play with his ball and will bring it back for you to throw it again. We are looking for an experienced adopter, preferably one that knows the breed, all of the good and bad sides. Don’t let this cute face fool you, he’s a super sweet boy but is not for the faint of heart; serious inquiries only please. He can live with another dog as long as they're more submissive than him. He is not good with children of any age. He was adopted by his second family when he was 1 years old after Francis had bit her son. He is now being rehomed as he’s started going after the 1-year-old in the family, more so now that he’s began crawling. Francis tends to resource guard his food, bed, toys and sometimes human. He tends to go after feet, can nip or bite, and has also bitten a few faces. For that reason, we require Francis to go to a home where he will never be around children, now or in the future, so that he doesn’t end up being rehomed a third time for the same reason. He is in good health and had the "stenotic nares" surgery for his nose. He does have allergies to most foods, so keeping his diet in check is crucial. He currently eats a mix of raw (Tollden Farms – rabbit or kangaroo), pumpkin puree and dry food (Nutri source, Pure Vita - Kangaroo and Green lentil) and can have Formula Raw rabbit and kangaroo treats also. He had very bad skin and ear infections prior to the diet change and hasn’t since, so instead of medication for his allergies, his future adopters must agree to continue this diet for him for his overall health and wellbeing. Francis is vaccinated, microchipped, has his flea, tick & heartworm prevention, is sterilized and will come with his medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Francis, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
