Meet Paprika! This adorable 1-year-old mixed breed is full of love and ready to find her forever home! With her sleek black coat and big pointy ears, she’s as cute as can be. Paprika is a sweetheart who loves to give hugs and kisses. She’s done great with potty training and hasn’t had any accidents in her foster home! She enjoys walks and is polite on a leash, always eager to say hello to new friends. Paprika sleeps well in her crate overnight and is a quick learner—she’s already working on “sit”! She has a playful side and enjoys toys, especially when given a proper outlet for her energy. While she gets excited during playtime, she’s learning how to have fun in a gentle way. When Paprika arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Paprika to undergo treatment and recovery is with a loving forever family. If she is adopted, the clinic staff will be there every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment typically takes three months and includes some simple at-home care to keep her safe while she recovers. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Paprika will fully recover! It’s also important to know that Heartworm is only transmitted through mosquitoes and cannot spread directly from animal to animal. Paprika is looking for a loving family who will continue her training and give her plenty of love and belly rubs. Could she be the perfect pup for you? For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Paprika, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
