My story

Princess Carolyn (about 6 and a half years old as of February, 2025) is a spayed female seal point shorthaired cat. PC was caught as a feral kitten at about 3 months old, much later than ideal for taming, but showed promise and tamed up enough to be adopted a few months later and she flourished, befriending a sweet older kitty and even learning to tolerate 2 small dogs. Everything was going great until a few years later her owner tried bringing in a feral cat, and PC got very territorial. Things deteriorated with him where they were having huge fights, but he passed away and eventually so did her sweet older pal, and her owner thought she might like a new kitten friend to keep her company. Unfortunately she treated the new little kitten just like the big feral cat- as a threatening invasion! Her owner tried slowly reintroducing them several times over many months, even trying medicating PC with Prozac, but she just couldn't handle the new kitten even while the small dogs were still no issue for her. Finally the owner was going to have to move in with a big dog she had pet sat and knew PC was terrified of, so she didn't think it was fair to have PC locked in a bedroom hiding from the dog she's terrified of (with the kitten that was now terrified of PC!) and returned her to her foster home. She was very scared at first, hissing almost any time her former foster parents approached her to pet her but then purring loudly and dancing with delight when they started petting her. After about a month the hissing stopped and now she's a happy little girl that loves pets, tummy rubs, cuddling on the couch purring and giving sweet little licks. Her foster family would have been happy to keep her, but as they tried to introduce PC to their own cats she proved to be just as territorial over their territory! If they want to keep fostering and give their own cats some peace it would probably be best to find Princess Carolyn a home as a spoiled only cat or with just a small calm dog or maybe a very mature and confident cat that won't threaten her or inspire bullying. She loves nothing more than a nice big cat tree but you'll be able to afford one with what you save on fancy toys- PC prefers lightweight things like craft pompoms, pipe cleaners, and stolen hairbands that she can carry around and toss across the room. Being part Siamese she is very vocal and will "yell" at people when she wants attention throughout the day, but is usually content with just a few minutes of petting or a quick cuddle in your lap. In the evening if you sprawl out on the couch there is a good chance she'll take advantage and cuddle with you for a longer session. Otherwise approaching PC when it's not her idea can be hit and miss, though she's definitely more confident and receptive when she's in an area with no other cats and may do much better overall in a home without them. To this day from her late taming she is a bit difficult with things like trimming claws; she's too smart and bolts at the first sign of clippers, and really hates being put in a carrier; she is not a cat that would be good to travel with. But for the right person that can be patient and flexible with her quirks she's very affectionate and can make someone feel truly loved when they come home to this little goofball

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Princess Carolyn, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
