My story

If you’re searching for a calm, loving, and quietly goofy companion, look no further—Soldier is the sweetest dude around! With his soulful puppy eyes and gentle personality, this guy will melt your heart in seconds. He absolutely lives for affection and will sit by your side soaking up love like it’s his favorite thing in the world (because it is). Soldier walks like a dream on a leash—no pulling, just peaceful strolls—and his laid-back energy makes him the perfect partner for relaxed walks, lazy afternoons, or just hanging out at home. He’s a beautiful blend of mellow and playful, with a charming goofiness that peeks out once he’s comfortable. We know there’s even more of his personality waiting to shine—he just needs the right environment to really blossom. With a loving home, Soldier will show you just how amazing he can truly be. He also kennels perfectly! Soldier is a heartworm positive pup. His treatment has been started, but he still has a couple of months to go before she will be medically cleared. We would like for him to complete that treatment in a home rather than a shelter. Even better is if he can go straight to his future adoptive home. If you would like to open your heart and home to this wonderful older gentleman, please complete a foster application. We will continue to provide all of her medical care, food and supplies; you just provide the loving home, as well as the rides to the 2 or 3 vet appointments in Muscatine. Heartworm is treatable and we expect a full recovery. Treatment is not complicated. Our foster coordinator will be with you every step of the way to answer questions and guide you through the process.
