HUGO

My story

Unfortunately, Hugo's forever home did not work out and he is back at the rescue. He needs a hero and he really needs it soon. We are BEGGING for help networking him so he does not have another long shelter ahead of him. We aren't sure how much more this poor guy can take. He is one of the longest residents we have EVER had and has waited over a YEAR for the right forever home. Hugo was born on 8/7/20 and is a large mixed breed. He is looking for a single female home only. He cannot under any circumstance be placed in a home with men. The reason we are requiring a female single home is because Hugo has had issues bonding with one human instead of both. We are trying to remove any issues possible to keep Hugo from being returned and we think this is unfortunately not a negotiable for him. He also requires a home without other animals or children. We realize that such a specific home is harder to come by and we really need help networking him endlessly so the right person sees him. With all that said, Hugo is really an amazing dog who just needs to find the right person for him. Going on adventures is one of his favorite things—long walks, car rides, adoption events, and exploring new places make him the happiest. He does well on a leash and is a very smart guy. He is up to date on all of his vaccinations and has been neutered. *PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO STRINGENT OUT OF STATE HEALTH CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS WE ARE NOW ONLY ADOPTING TO RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS*. We apologize for the inconvenience. HOW TO GO ABOUT ADOPTING: 1. Come in during adoption hours to apply and full out an application completely. We have applications on site. Open adoption hours take place at 44 Worthington Road in Cranston, RI. We are open every Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. 2. We require proof of homeownership (tax form, deed, mortgage statement) or landlord approval (a copy of your lease that clearly states you are allowed to have a dog, puppy, cat, or kitten OR written and signed consent from your landlord. 3. We require copies of up to date vet records for any current pets. Helpful reminders: *We do not do same day adoptions. *Please bring the entire family in to meet the animal you are interested in. *We will setup a meet and greet with your dog at a later date. PLEASE do not bring your dog with you when you come in to apply.
