Hello, my name is: RiverApprox. DOB: 9/3/2024Sex/Breed: Neutered male Hound/Terrier mixWeight: 47 lbsRescued From: Cruelty caseRiver is a bright, food-motivated boy who is eager to learn, making him an ideal match for someone who enjoys working with a smart, capable, loving dog.At his core, River enjoys being active—whether that’s hiking, playing fetch or practicing his latest commands. However, he is equally a fan of `spa time.` Once his energy is spent, he seeks out deep affection, thriving on long sessions of cuddles and body rubs and napping to help him loosen up after a day of activity. He is crate trained, finding comfort with a frozen Kong or a long-lasting bone. When it’s time to travel, he is a good passenger, often napping until he reaches his destination.River would do best in a quiet home without other animals, however, is trained with encountering animals while out and about. He would do best with older children. He loves playing outside and would love a fenced in yard, but it is not a deal breaker with the right home. He has been professionally trained which means he will arrive to you with a solid foundation of skills (sit, down/stay, here, place, and heel) and a high level of engagement.River is still a young dog with a `puppy` spirit, and he requires a leader who will be patient and consistent. He is doing well with his house training when given frequent opportunities to go outside.
