My story

When he finds his best human he will be attached at the hip to them. Whomever it will be. He loves his daily walks, he loves to burrow under blankets, he loves his food, weight is very good at the moment. He's not even close to being as nervous as he was when he first arrived. He works well with men or women. Meets both male and female dogs and does great. He does react ONLY when things get to exciting. Maybe a football game and people get really crazy loud, or with tussling, anything that raises blood pressure can cause a little bit of a reaction. That's it though.    Winston came from Georgia when the owner could no longer keep him due to family issues. Winston was not well socialized and is anxious about loud noises and strange people. For this reason, we have him in training to help him with new people and everyday situations. We want to keep him in neighboring states so he can be picked up from the trainer, and she can help them should they need help with him if he backslides. In his foster home, he is a great dog, happy, and loves to play with his foster people and the foster female. We are unsure about male dogs; that is to be determined with the trainer, who he will go to on the 29th. He is a small standard wire, and we think he would do great with another small to medium-sized female. Our must-haves for adorable Winston include: A fenced yard Another small- to medium-sized, young female to play with Someone who understands the pack mentality No apartments, high-rises, condos, or anything with shared walls If you are interested in him, please contact us, and we will let you know how his training is going after the 15th of April. We must let the training facility working with him a bit to see what needs to be worked on. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.  There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered.  We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states.  If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend.  We have volunteers who will help your 'new friend' get up and down the East Coast or Midwest.  We just can't get them from one coast to the other.  Please look for dogs on your coast.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
