*** JB is in our PetSmart Encinitas adoption center ***JB: dark orange tabby, short hair, neutered male, born approx. 3/1/23, #19610 Cats: good solo or mellow catDogs: unknownChildren: calm tweens+ BACKGROUND: JB began showing up a woman’s home where she fed a group of homeless people-wary cats. He wasn’t neutered at the time, so she took care of that. As his hormones settled down, JB got very friendly and he clearly wanted more from his benefactor than just food: he wanted human love and a home to call his own! Since she wasn’t able to provide a permanent home for him, she reached out to The Rescue House. PERSONALITY: JB is the biggest sweetheart who cannot give enough love – which is quite the character plus! He needs a little encouragement when he first arrives in a new place as he can be a bit unsure, but once the petting has started he’s keen on keeping the mutual admiration society at a steady pace and is the king of headbutts. JB cannot get enough scratches and pets, and he will roll around so you can give him a good belly rub... mmm, that’s nice. He’s a love bug more than a play machine and hasn’t yet shown much interest in toys, just in always being with you as your Velcro kitty. As a social eater, he also likes to have you close by at mealtime. JB is going to be the best buddy for his special person!COMPATIBILITY: JB is comfortable with having another mellow cat around and would do well as a solo kitty since he is very people-focused. We don’t know his thoughts on dogs. Cat-knowledgeable tweens and up would be a better fit than young or boisterous children. He likes a calmer and quieter environment.JB is Just the Best! Will this handsome orange fellow win you over? While healthy, JB has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). This is a type of virus that typically causes some weakening of a cat’s immune system. It is a cat-only virus and cannot be spread through casual friendly contact between cats. FIV+ cats can and do live quite normal lives in quality, duration, and happiness. A good informative website is FIVCats.com.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt JB, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
