My story

Maverick entered the OOTW program a couple of months back after being found wandering as a stray. It was immediately noticed that Maverick had a severe infection in both his eyes and his rescuers took him to a dogtor where he was diagnosed with entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow backwards and poke the eyes, causing extreme irritation, infection and discomfort. Fortunately, this condition is completely fixable but Maverick's rescuers needed to find a rescue group who could afford to have this surgery done! Ta-Da ... Out of the Woods to the rescue and Maverick was welcomed into the program. Maverick had surgery on his eyes on March 19 to correct this issue and while he was snoozing, the vet neutered him, checked him for heartworms, injected his rabies shot and his microchip! He has recovered nicely and he's all ready to go!Maverick is a mixed breed who is believed to be Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Rhodesian Ridgeback, however, he's not going to be as large as either of those breeds so there is probably some other breeds in there as well! We believe he will reach a top-out weight of around 55 pounds. Maverick has a nice sturdy physique and a short coat of chocolately brown fur. On his chest he has a big beautiful butterfly marking in white! This pup's foster mom is doing an incredible job training Maverick and he already knows several commands, plus he is leash trained, doggie door trained, crate trained, rides well in a car, and enjoys other dogs and even cats! Maverick enjoys play time outdoors with foster siblings and you can also find him lounging in the sunshine on nice days! We believe he would do well with children of any age and he would also do well at a dog park because he seems to enjoy meeting new doggies. We've seen zero aggression when meeting other dogs.If you are thinking about adding a new pup to your home, take a look at this handsome boy and start with the Adoption Application. The link is just below. Adoption fee is $150.To make the best possible match for you and the pet, please follow the link below to complete the Adoption Application. Please go to http://ootwrescue.org/adoption to fill out an application or review our Adoption Process.Cat adoption fee is $100. Dog adoption fee is $150, unless otherwise specified.
