My story

Paulina is a beautiful, gentle, and loving senior house hippo with the frostiest of faces and the biggest heart. This graceful older lady is searching for a quiet retirement home where she can enjoy comfort, consistency, and the companionship of someone who will cherish her deeply.Here’s what a volunteer said after meeting her at the shelter:“I’m in love. This gentle girl was immediately friendly and walked nicely to a play yard. She loved getting pets and scratches and leaned on me the whole time we were together. She seems to love and crave human companionship, and she certainly deserves that.”Now that Paulina is in a foster home, we know even more about her wonderful personality:Paulina is house-trained and uses a doggy door reliably. She’s incredibly affectionate and always wants to be close to her person. She curls up beside you, rests her head on your lap, and gives sweet kisses. She forms strong bonds and will wait by the door for her loved one to return.She enjoys the company of people and is learning to feel comfortable around other dogs. In her foster home, she has been slowly warming up to her canine companions, showing that with time and care, she can be part of a calm and respectful pack. Paulina prefers to have her own space and has lovingly adopted a squeaky Christmas tree toy as her special comfort item.Paulina walks well on leash, knows how to sit, and is very well-mannered in public settings. She enjoys cozy spaces and has created a little nest for herself in a quiet corner of her foster home. She is relaxed when out and about and prefers to observe rather than interact with other dogs.She adores lounging indoors and joins in backyard adventures when other pets chase lizards and birds, happily participating when the focus is on exploring rather than socializing.Paulina is incredibly sweet, eager to please, and clearly enjoys being part of a home. She has likely had a difficult past, but she carries herself with quiet grace and simply wants a soft place to land, filled with warmth, routine, and affection.Her ideal home would be peaceful, with a secure yard and someone who values her loving, gentle nature.
