Meet Puggie! This adorable warrior has been through a heck of a lot and is somehow still the sweetest, happiest, and mellowest little man. When Puggie was surrendered to the shelter, he had horrifically inflamed and diseased eyes. We scooped him up and were able to get him the emergency surgery he so desperately needed. Now that his painful eyes are finally gone, he's feeling SO much better and is the chillest little dude, just vibing his way through recovery. Throughout this transition, Puggie has kept his appetite (meal time is his absolute favorite time), his love of cozy beds, and his joyful spirit in the yard - the beautiful spring weather is giving him life and he loves bebopping around! He loves being close to his foster mom and her other dogs as much as he can, and especially loves sitting outside and breathing the fresh air. He would do best in a home with at least one other dog and with a fenced-in yard so he can soak up all the outdoor time. Because Puggie is blind, he has some trouble getting around his environment. He's very smart and is already learning to lean into his other senses, like hearing - the word "treat" is his favorite. He's also great at following his foster mom's voice - as soon as she says his name, his tail starts wagging nonstop and he moves towards her. He loves exploring his surroundings and takes it slow and steady, bouncing gently off of objects he encounters and pivoting away from them. He does get stuck in the occasional corner, but don't we all?! Despite his limitations, Puggie has revealed himself to be a passionate climber - he's kind of like a blind goat! He continually entertains his foster mom by trying to climb up walls, bookshelves, low furniture - you name it, he'll climb it. Because the sky's the limit as far as Puggie's concerned, any staircases he access to will need gates to keep him from trying to climb them and falling. Puggie walks well on the leash, loves car rides, and sleeps through the night. He is pretty far along on housetraining but should continue using a belly band for the time being. He loves naps and is very easy to handle and pick up. Puggie needs a forever family that is home most of the time to snuggle with him and give him the love he's missed out on for so much of his life, as well as help him navigate the world. His ideal home will be generally calm and quiet, without young children, and able to provide him with the predictable structure and routine he needs to thrive without his sight. Puggie is the epitome of love and joy triumphing over pain and darkness. We can't wait for his forever family to find him! Puggie is approximately 12 years old and 14 lbs.
