Located in Waterloo, ON. Microchipped, DOB December 17, 2016 If you are looking for a snuggle bug, Ganymede is the cat for you. She doesn’t need or want attention all the time and spends much of the day sleeping, but when you’re done your workday and are ready to relax and read a book or watch a show, that’s when she’ll want to be close to you and snuggle up in your lap. If you’re busy in the kitchen and are willing to work one-handed, Ganymede also loves to be held like a small child. She’s a great hugger and will purr quietly with contentment, occasionally nudging her head in for a closer hug. She’s a gentle, sweet cat. She loves chasing a laser pointer or a wand toy, and will chase a treat if you slide it along the floor, but mostly she likes to curl up in a cozy spot, preferably a sunbeam, and watch the world go by. She's is a bit of a talker; usually it’s just a plea for some attention, and if you pick her up and give her a cuddle she gets quiet again. One thing to watch out for is that she loves to chew on houseplants and will then proceed to get sick. She is not a high jumper, though, so if the plants are put out of reach at counter-height or higher, she will leave them alone. She was obviously well loved and well socialized and is friendly with new people. In the foster home, she did well with another senior cat, but it would be best for her to be an only cat or with another calm senior cat in her forever home, as she wouldn't be able to defend herself against a more aggressive cat, especially as she is declawed. Ganymede has some medical concerns that are being treated. She is on a low dose of thyroid medication and eats a special renal diet because bloodwork showed that her kidney function was not 100%. It is easy to give Ganymede her medication, it’s just a little pill in the morning and at night. She’ll likely complain loudly about it anyway, but her passionate complaining actually makes it easier to drop the pill into her mouth. As mentioned earlier, she’s extremely gentle and has never growled or bitten while getting her medication. She is a super snuggler and has a pleasant disposition, and what's lovely is that she doesn't need constant attention, which makes her a really easy cat to have around. Once she has had her snuggle, she's filled her affection tank and she can happily be on her own for several hours. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $225.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ganymede *declawed*, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
