My story

Name Boston, age: 2 Years Old, breed: Boxer MixLikes: Liver treats, going for walks, sniffing out adventure!Dislikes: Being introduced to several people at onceWhat would be the ideal home? An active home with a fenced in yard. He loves to sniff, and he will follow his nose anywhere! He would be a great dog to bring for a run!Good with other cats: UnknownGood with dogs: May possibly live with dog same size and activity levelGood with children: No kids under 14 years old is recommended due to nervousness Temperament: Friendly, but may be shy to start, active, happy boy!Motivators: High value itemsAny commands: UnknownHouse trained: UnknownCrate trained: No, could benefit from slowly introducing to the crate as he has separation anxietyHow long will it take to settle into a new environment: A few weeks. We recommend looking into the 3-3-3 Rule to help understand what to expect as he adjusts to his new environment and family. Anxious for the first few days but will settle down within a couple of weeks in his new environment.Any special needs or traits an adopter should know? Boston has separation anxiety, this requires patience and understanding from potential adopters. Separation anxiety may persist lifelong but may be successfully managed or minimized with appropriate behavior modification therapy. Relapses are common when routines are disrupted by vacations, moving to a new home or variations in the family’s school or work schedules.Medical: On anxiety medicationIf you think Boston is the one for you - fill out an application today!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Boston, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
