My story

The Ultimate Adventure Buddy & Cuddle Companion! Boba 2 year old and weights 27-pound French Bulldog with a heart as big as his journey. Found as a stray in Southern California, he came into rescue with a prolapsed rectum that required multiple surgeries. After two unsuccessful purse string procedures, he underwent a more invasive surgery to secure his rectum to his stomach wall. Despite everything he’s been through, Boba remains an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and resilient little guy. Personality Perks: This handsome boy has a playful, gentle nature and enjoys romping around with his foster sibling. When Boba gets excited, he hops like a bunny off his back legs, it is to cute! He generally gets along well with females and some males, but if challenged, he will stand his ground and it is not pretty. Disagreements are rare and typically revolve around food, attention, or toys, so structured mealtimes and supervision will help set him up for success. With time, patience, and guidance, Boba continues to show excellent progress in his interactions. His ultimate perk is chasing lizards, he will watch the wall and scan every section thinking he will get a lizard! Boba is full time entertainment Training Quirks: Boba is also quite the well-mannered pup! He knows basic commands, including “sit” and “wait” for treats, and he’s very patient in his crate. His house training is improving, but due to his medical history, controlling his bowels has been a challenge. Thankfully, with a carefully managed diet, he’s making great strides and having no accidents. Consistence in his nutrition will be key to his long-term success. Must watch him poop and distract him immediately when the turd drops. Do not let him eat it he will go backwards on thousands we have spent on him to get healthy. Companion Love: When it comes to companionship, Boba is the full package. He has the perfect balance of playful energy and laid-back cuddles. He loves hard chew toys, with yak and bam bones being his absolute favorite. Boba needs a leader, he likes to work because he has big energy. He also likes to sleep and cuddle. This dude makes an excellent travel companion—once settled in the car, he prefers to take a cozy nap. Whether it’s a hiking trip in cool weather, a weekend camping getaway, or a stroll through a local farmers’ market, Boba is always up for an adventure. Home Medical Endeavors: Boba has been through quite the medical issues dealing with his prolapse. He has had two purse string surgeries that were not successful. Our next step was Colpopexy surgery, it was successful but only for a few weeks and his rectum came out again. With his original prolapse his rectum was 8.5in (that is unheard of). We have been to the vet several times and have had several discussions with our primary and our specialist. Boba's issue is that he is straining he is straining every time he goes to the bathroom. We have tried calming meds but it does not help and they make him aggressive. We are trying one last medication to see if that helps him stop straining. While he is going #2 we are distracting him from straining but it is not always working. We just did a gut biome test on him and everything came back great!!! Update: Boba has successfully kept in his rectum and is doing wonderfully. For awhile no eye can be taken off him while he is outside going potty. Needs: Boba’s ideal home will be one that understands his medical needs and is committed to maintaining his specialized diet. He would do better as an only dog or with a compatible canine companion (a dog that plays with him but lets him lead and is smaller then him), given proper introductions and time to adjust. Following the 333 rule—giving him time to decompress in a new environment—will help him transition smoothly. This incredible boy has overcome so much and is now ready to find a forever home that will cherish him for the amazing dog he is. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and adventurous best friend, Boba is waiting for you! He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation fee is $1000.00. You can apply for Boba at freedomfrenchierescue.org, and check out the adoption process as well. *Please Note: All learning and guidance must continue in their new home. A dog’s behavior can change with a new environment and energy, and every family’s dynamic is different. What works or is allowed in one foster home may not be the same in yours, so consistency, patience, and continued training are key to their success.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Boba, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
