Brownie

My story

A26520 Brownie is a brown with white colored, approximately 1 and a half-year-old, 58-pound, neutered male, Belgian Malinois. He entered the shelter as an owner surrender on 03-24-2025 due to the fact his new landlord would not allow the breed. Brownie is a friendly, social and excited boy here at the shelter. Our staff says he is a friendly, strong-willed boy who loves attention. Saying he comes up to the front of the kennel and leans on the door for your attention and affection. He will bark at you to get your attention if you ignore him. This can be scary to the inexperience person as Belgian Malinois have a snapping bark. He was easy to leash and excited to go for a walk. He does pull and likes to check things out, but he does check in with his handler regularly. He was friendly with most people we encountered during our walks and ignored some. He will need some training as he did not respond to any commands right away. He eventually would sit, but he tried to ignore you with his strong will. He does bark at dogs going by his kennel but walked by other dogs when we were out walking and completely ignored them. We recommend a meet and greet if you have another dog in the home. Belgian Malinois are not for the first time owners. We recommend an experienced owner who will take the time to train him. Brownie will be a loyal family member in his new forever home.
