Meet Gilligan!Gilligan is a special boy who still needs some patience. He came to Saving Hope starved, broken, and covered in scars from multiple dog attacks. His journey has not been easy, but this boy still wants to love you! Despite his past experiences, he LOVES dogs and would thrive best in a home with established canine companions. Gilligan adores playing rough with his foster brother and sometimes his foster sister, as long as she allows it. While he is friendly and happy to meet new people, he is still learning to trust. When unsure about what is expected of him, he can become stiff and, if pushed in that state, might growl to ask for space. In such moments, it’s best to either give him space in his crate or bring in another dog to help him relax.Gilligan has been treated for both heartworms and hookworms, and he tends to seek space more when he isn’t feeling well, which is understandable. He has displayed no signs of resource guarding and is very laid-back about food and toys, often preferring to graze and eat alongside his pack. He loves to destroy stuffed toys and defuzz tennis balls, though he will `drop it` when asked—though sometimes you might need to ask twice if he’s really enjoying what he has! He also loves a good game of fetch. Gilligan is crate trained and has learned to wait at doorways, making him about 90% easy to walk on a leash without pulling, unless there’s something particularly interesting for him to smell. He greets parked cars like they are his best friends, especially trucks and trailers!Gilligan is wonderful in public; he is quiet and observant. He generally remains calm, but if he is barking or whining, it means he needs something!Gilligan lives with 8 cats and 3 other dogs in his foster home. The cats often approach him while he’s eating, rub against him, and even jump on him as he walks by, yet Gilligan has never reacted negatively to any of this. He’s truly a dream around cats! While Gilligan is not a snuggler, he loves belly rubs and will sit back on his hind legs, waving his paws in the air to ask for them. He also does an adorable impersonation of a Dalmatian smile when he is very happy or excited. So cute!To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt. It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank
