Benji

My story

Foster update 5/21: Benji has been with us for a week and the strides we have seen from him have been amazing. On day 1, he wouldn’t walk in the house on his own, he cowered from all noises and sudden movements and didn’t even show any interest in treats or toys. One week later, he freely goes in and out, is doing well on leash training, takes treats so gently, and comes to us for loving pets on his own. He is living with 2 small senior dogs who are not overly impressed with his youthful play outside but in the house, he is a perfect gentleman. While he was quiet in his kennel overnight during the first few days, he does not like getting in the kennel. He now sleeps all night quietly on his dog bed and has not had any accidents. He has shown no aggression to the resident dogs, with his food, or with a teeny tiny stray kitten that showed up here 2 days ago. He is working on his confidence and is nicely greeting people he meets. Benji is a bit overwhelmed in the kennel but came out of his shell very quickly when out with volunteers and doggie friends. He played so gently with a much smaller dog. He loves snuggles!
